EU Blue Card (§18g AufenthG)

The title "Ingenieur" is protected by each state’s engineering law. With a foreign degree you need approval from the responsible body, usually the state engineering chamber, which checks your degree is equivalent (e.g. at least 180 ECTS, mostly in MINT subjects). You can usually work as an engineer without it, but not use the title; working independently as a consulting engineer needs a separate licence.
