Degree-level permits last up to 3 years at a time, vocational ones up to 1 year, and you can apply for permanent residence after 3 years. Regulated jobs such as health personnel also need authorisation.

You need authorisation before working as a nurse. Nurses trained outside the EU/EEA must also, within 3 years, reach Norwegian at B2, pass a professional test, and take courses in national subjects and in medicines handling.
