Non-EU/EFTA skilled worker (L or B permit, quota): No fixed salary figure: pay and conditions must be customary for the location, profession and sector. The employer applies to the canton, which pre-decides, and the State Secretariat for Migration approves; Swiss, settled and EU/EFTA workers have priority, so the employer must show no suitable one was found. Permits come from annual quotas (4,500 B and 4,000 L permits in 2026).

Professional truck driving needs the CZV competence certificate. Foreign licences must be exchanged within 12 months, with an extra theory test for truck categories; non-EU/EFTA licences must be exchanged before your first professional drive.
