Residence permit for skilled workers: Needs a concrete, normally full-time job offer from an employer in Norway that requires skilled-worker qualifications; the employer confirms the offer online first. Degree-level permits last up to 3 years at a time, vocational ones up to 1 year, and you can apply for permanent residence after 3 years. Regulated jobs such as health personnel also need authorisation.

EU/EEA registration (employee): EU/EEA nationals can start work straight away and register with the police within 3 months of arrival; registration is free and happens once. Nordic citizens are exempt.
